With years of experience, our proficiency in Wire EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) allows us to machine: integral features, sharp corners, deep cavities, external or internal tapers up to 30°, and highly intricate contoured shapes with repeatable tolerances as tight as ±.0002”. These competencies allow us to keep up with the increased demand for tighter tolerances and significant surface finishes at a lower cost per part.
Due to the Wire EDM process, parts are manufactured ultimately free of stress or distortion. The process involves feeding a thin metal electrode through a metal workpiece, submerged in a tank of de-ionized water. A carefully controlled electric spark is generated between the electrode and the workpiece, which produces intense heat that melts the surrounding material and creates a smooth, clean and absolute cut. The fluid also acts as a coolant and flushes away any excess material.
With our multiple submersible Mitsubishi CNC Wire EDM machines, we have the capacity to produce parts up to 31” x 23” x 20”. As an additional enhancement to our EDM capabilities, we are able to EDM drill narrow holes from .012” to .200” in diameter.
We process a collection of ferrous and non-ferrous materials, in addition to hard metals and exotic alloys, commonly found in both the aerospace and medical fields. We can achieve a level of precision with EDM that is not possible using other machining methods.
The result of our extensive manufacturing capabilities is the ability to produce parts that are precise, burr-free, and have exceptional surface finishes.
